If you’re stuck or growth has stalled, it might be time for a reset.
This ABC story is a brilliant example of what a reset looks like on a national scale.
We usually point to Norway, Australia and China as clean-energy leaders. But it’s Nepal and Pakistan that are leapfrogging the wealthy world.
Nepal has 76% of new cars running electric. Pakistan has created a solar boom with no major government incentives - just households reacting to crippling energy costs.
This flips the old logic that innovation flows from rich countries downward. Not anymore.
So why are these nations resetting faster?
• Urgent problems: energy insecurity and soaring prices
• No legacy industries holding them back
• Dependence on imported fossil fuels forcing new thinking
• Renewables and EVs now genuinely affordable
• Easy access to modern tech through China’s manufacturing scale
Together, it creates the perfect conditions for rapid change.
Why does this matter?
You can’t plan a reset while clinging to outdated models. Don’t aim for a “Plan A+” version of what already exists - build a real Plan B.
Old investments in traditional models have served their purpose. Time to let go. Resets need a serious (not going away) problem, fresh thinking, a blank sheet of paper, new voices, and a willingness to look beyond your immediate patch for better ideas.
That’s where a reset starts — whether you’re a country, an organisation, a business or an individual.
